Interview: Fresh and Fab Interviews Dawn Richard!

Hey Guys! It's Akeem Jamal I had the opportunity to interview the fabulous Dawn Richard (of Danity Kane) on Thursday. She's such a sweetheart, I was about an hour late with the interview, so I couldn't record it or get all of you guys' questions answer. But she answered about 15 of them. Stay tuned, this is only the beginning!


P.S. Q was with her when I was doing the interview, so I switched the order in which I posted the questions so it reads better.

Intro / Danity Kane Breakup

Dawn - Hi, How Are You Today?
Akeem - I'm good you?
Dawn - I'm great --
Akeem - Okay, give me a sec [laughter] i'm trying to pull out the questions
Akeem - We all know about the breakup on the last season of the show, after all of that, what's next for Danity Kane?
Dawn - Drea and I are trying to patch this up to move forward with things -
Akeem - Oh ok, so is everything between you ladies squashed?
Dawn - There's nothing to squash, as you can tell from the episode, we said nothing.. it wasn't our decision.
Akeem - Right, have you talked to Aubrey or D. Woods since the break up?
Dawn - No I haven't, but there's no hard feelings to either of the ladies, and I wish them both the best.

Random Questions

Akeem - One of the readers, wanted to know how often do you work out?
Dawn - Actually, I attend dance classes three times a week.
Akeem - Cool...

Akeem - If you could work with any female in the industry, who would it be?
Dawn - Brandy

Akeem - Do you read any of the celebrity blogs in your spare time?
Dawn - No, they usually have something negative say about me, so I try to stay away from them. I like to surround myself with positive things and people.
Akeem - Yeah, I understand.

Akeem - A reader wanted to know if you still had your puppy, chotee.
Dawn - [laughter] - Yes I Do! Chotee is my baby, well actually he's a teenager now
Akeem - [laughter]
Dawn - But yes, I still have Chotee.

Danity Kane Comic / Education

Akeem - We know that there's a Danity Kane comic line coming out, can you let us know what that's about? [Click here to View]
Dawn - It's basically like any other comic, it deals with Sin City, Rock and Roll and it has villian's which are represented by the bosses of the labels -
Akeem - [laughter]
Dawn - It's like a melting pot of all of those things., If you visit my [MySpace] page, you can hear the song "Falls Away*" which is actually on the soundtrack album for the comic.
Akeem - Cool, Cool, I heard that song a few days ago, it's on my MySpace playlist
Dawn - [laughs] Aww, thats love.
Akeem - [laughs] So how did you get into drawing?
Dawn - Actually, I went De La Salle High School [ in New Orleans ] and I started there. My teacher discovered that I had a talent in anime drawing, so it kind of became a hobby of mines.
Akeem - What college did you go to?
Dawn - I went the the University of New Orleans -
Akeem - Cool.. U.N.O... What did you major in?
Dawn - Wait, actually I went to Nicholls State University, I majored in Marine Biology then I transferred [to UNO].

Akeem - If you weren't in the music industry... what would you be doing?
Dawn - Honestly, I couldn't see myself doing anything else but music -
Akeem - What I meant by that, is if you were still in school, what would be doing? Would it still be Marine Biology?
Dawn - I also have a love or fashion, so it would be either be music or fashion, something to do with the indsutry.

Making the Band 4 / Day 26

Akeem - So there's a new season of Making the Band about to launch, what can we expect from that?
Dawn - You can expect a new album from Day 26... you can expect that.
Akeem - We know that you write, did you write or are you featured on any of their songs?
Dawn - Actually Q is an amazing writer
Akeem - Really?
Dawn - Yes he is, he and I cowrote a song for the new Day 26 album
Akeem - Cool, cool... can't wait to hear that


Love Life / "Q"

Akeem - So we read about some rumors that you and Q were engaged, is there any truth behind that?
Dawn - [laughs and refers to Q] He asked are we engaged,
Q - [laughs]
Dawn - No, we aren't engaged..[laughs]
Akeem - Oooh, okay... is there any future plans of marriage and children?
Dawn - [repeats question to Q] - When the times right, most likely we will.

Akeem - What is Dawns most prized possession?
Dawn - Q
Akeem - [laughs]
Dawn to Q - He asked me what's my most prized possession, I told him you.
Q - [laughs]
Dawn - Wait, let me think.... yeah, i'll keep that answer.
Akeem - [laughs] - Okay then, that answers that.

New Orleans / Ending

Akeem - Well, i'm also from New Orleans--
Dawn - Aww, you're family!
Akeem - [laughs] I wanted to know if you ever attend any of the Saints/Hornets games?
Dawn - Not as often as I should, but I will be there next month for Mardi Gras -
Akeem - Great, Great
Dawn - Yeah, Q hasn't had the Mardi Gras experience yet, so i'll show him that
Akeem - You have to show him Bourbon street, [laughter]
Dawn - [laughs] - Don't be surprised if you see us out there

Ok I agree, the song is not AMAZING, but it can definatley be something on the charts, with the help of a good video. And boy o boy, did she deliver with this video. I loved every single second of it, she looked absolutely stunning, and gave me everything I need from the song. Great great job Ciara.

Okay so im watching the America Idol season 8 auditions today. I came across 2 autions that really stood out for me. Adeola was very likable, but what a terrible voice. And get this, she LEFT her job before audition because she was sure she was gonna be a star. It was seriously cringe worthy, i feel bad for her, poor girl didnt know she was that awful.

Jorge from Potorico on the other hand was simply magnificent, he really did sing from the heart and I believed every word, he has great potential.

{A little Rant}

And there was this girl, Her name was Jessica something, she was quite big and she was wearing pink, she claimed she won over 500 singing competition. But i'm outraged, they said her audition was terrible, but I thought she was amazing, I dont know why they did that. Im tryna find the damn youtube video, so this whole rants makes a bit of sense, but I cant find it. It was unfair, ill continue looking for it, so you can see what im talking about, for those who didn't watch it.

That background is pure Fiyah!!! That makes the whole song for me, The song itself is not bad at all, its a grower and its definatley single potential, actually I hope they both do a video together, choreography for it, should be something amazing.

Nick to Direct Dream & Mariah's "My Love" Music Video

According to a new casting notice, Nick Cannon will be directing the music video for "My Love," The-Dream's new single featuring Mariah Carey. Auditions were reportedly held in North Hollywood on Wednesday for actors and extras. Those who make it past the auditions will be shooting the video this Saturday in Los Angeles.-MariahDaily

Lucky him, hes getting work now, lol. He directed Mariah's last video for "I Stay in Love", you could say he didn't do a bad job, but i personally didn't feel it. But I cant knock his swag, hes doing it right.

The song is meh, the beat is Fayah, but the song screams cheesy pop, and i dont think that's what they were going for with the album, hence Disturbia, Take a Bow and so on

Kelly Clarkson Breaks Records & Defeats Britney

Kelly Clarkson is set to break records on thursday, defeating Britney spears On the Billboard chart. Her new single, “My Life Would Suck Without You,” will break records on Thursday when it makes the largest leap to No. 1 in the Billboard chart’s 50-year history.

According to Billboard.com, the song will jump to the top spot from No. 97 on the Hot 100 chart when it sold 280,000 digital downloads in its first week out.

This isn’t Clarkson’s first time at the rodeo. Her American Idol Season 1 victory song, “A Moment Like This,” jumped from No. 52 to No. 1 in a single week.

But she was trumped five different times, most recently by Britney Spears’s “Womanizer,” which jumped from No. 96 to No. 1 last year.

Thats great news, Congrats to Kelly on that one.

"All I Ever Wanted" comes out March 17th.

I really hope this video comes out banging, she really let me down with her last video "Burst Your Windows", you can imagine, the song being called "Burst your windows" and no busting windows action went down, lol.

Akon Mobbed By Fans in London

This past Saturday, Akon found himself in a frightful situation as he was mobbed by about "300" fans.

"The intention was to go and watch a movie, but as we were walking there I spotted this little cat fight in the middle of the street. It was really funny so I started filming it on my phone. I forgot who I was for a second, and people started to notice me - before I knew it I was being mobbed by about 300 fans. I had to run to the nearby Burger King, but it got so crazy with people following that a window ended up getting smashed. They had to sneak us out the back and I never did get to see that film."

First of all, why would he filming a cat fight on his phone, serves him right. I was actually there when this happened, as a person who minds their own business lol, I didn't both to go and find out what the commotion was all about. I had no idea it was Akon, it was when I got into the club, they said it was Akon, how funny.
